Hello, my name is Brooklyn Washburn, and I am a dedicated nursing student at Heritage University. My journey into the healthcare field began in Southern Iowa, where I grew up with my mother and my older brother, who has developmental delays and complex medical conditions. Growing up alongside a sibling with chronic health challenges gave me a firsthand understanding of family dynamics, resilience, and the profound emotional and physical impacts of illness on the entire family unit.These personal experiences deeply shaped who I am and inspired my passion for serving others; I chose to become a nurse because I want to provide compassionate, holistic medical care to people when they are in their most vulnerable states. Throughout my clinical rotations—ranging from pediatric psychiatric care to maternal health and medical-surgical units—I have learned the critical importance of being an attentive advocate, practicing mindfulness, and ensuring patient safety. Ultimately, my greatest passion is to bring light into my patients' lives by offering empathetic, evidence-based, and culturally inclusive care
